Does my child need to practice at home?
This is a 'no-practice' piano / music class. Of course, your child is welcome to explore what they're learning at class on their home piano, and you may want to encourage that; but there are no practice requirements.
What if my child didn't go to the summer camp, can he/she still attend the class?
All 3–5-year-olds are welcome to register for this class, even if they did NOT attend the Piano Explorers summer camp. If you do want to attend the summer camp to get an idea of what the year-long program is like, check here to see if there is a session open or to get on the waitlist.
Who is the teacher?
Miss Sarah is the teacher.
Does my preschooler need to take this class before starting private piano lessons?
No. Your child may begin private piano lessons as young as 3-years-old without taking this class. Contact us to see if there are availabilities.
What ages is this class for?
The class is designed for ages 3-5; preschool ages.
Does my child need any experience?
Nope! This is perfect for beginners.
Do parents stay?
Parents are encouraged to stay for as long as the child still needs you there. Perhaps for the first 3-4 weeks or so. It will depend on the child. The kitchen table is where parents can hang out and bring quiet things to do. It is right around the corner from where class will be; a perfect distance to encourage some autonomy, yet still feel reassuring to the young student. If a child needs extra attention, I will request his/her parent to come and participate with him/her. And certainly parents are always welcome to stay anytime through the year if they desire.
Does my child need to be fully potty-trained?
If your child needs any assistance with potty time, a parent will be required to stay in order to assist them when needed.
What should my child bring?
Just themselves! (Optional: water bottle)
What if my child is shy?
That’s totally okay—this class is designed to gently include every child at their comfort level.
Where is this class held?
The class is held in my home in American Fork.
