Frequently Asked Questions
How many days a week does the class meet?
Two days a week: Tuesday and Thursday
Why twice a week?
Children this age thrive on routine, repetition, and play. Meeting twice each week gives them the opportunity to revisit new musical ideas while they're still fresh, making learning feel easy and exciting.
How long is each class?
Each class period is 45-minutes.
How long is the program?
There are 37 weeks of classes and the program lasts through the calendar school year: Aug. 18th, 2026 - May 27th, 2027
How many kids are in the class?
A maximum of 6 children will be in each class.
Does my child need to practice at home?
Many parents love the idea of introducing their child to music but aren't quite ready to add daily piano practice to an already busy family schedule. That's exactly why Piano Explorers exists. By meeting twice each week, children revisit new musical ideas while they're still fresh, helping to reinforce new concepts naturally without requiring home practice.Â
This class gives preschoolers a joyful introduction to music while building many of the foundational skills they'll use in future piano lessons. When your child is older and ready for formal piano study, home practice will become an important part of that journey. For now, we simply want children to discover that making music is fun.
Our goal isn't to postpone practice—it's to give children a joyful reason to practice when they're ready.Â
Who is the teacher?
Miss Sarah is the teacher.
Does my preschooler need to take this class before starting private piano lessons?
No. Your child may begin private piano lessons as young as 3-years-old without taking this class. Check out Buddy Lessons here.
What age group is this class for?
The class is designed for ages 3-5; preschool ages.
Does my child need any experience?
Nope! This is perfect for beginners.
Do parents stay?
Parents are encouraged to stay for as long as the child still needs you there. Perhaps for the first 3-4 weeks or so. It will depend on the child. The kitchen table is where parents can hang out and bring quiet things to do. It is right around the corner from where class will be; a perfect distance to encourage some autonomy, yet still feel reassuring to the young student. If a child needs extra attention, I will request his/her parent to come and participate with him/her. And certainly parents are always welcome to stay anytime through the year if they desire.
Does my child need to be fully potty-trained?
If your child needs any assistance with potty time, a parent will be required to stay in order to assist them when needed.
What should my child bring?
Just themselves! (Optional: water bottle)
What if my child is shy?
That’s totally okay—this class is designed to gently include every child at their comfort level.
Where is this class held?
The class is held in my home in American Fork.
